Launched at Hon. Chief Minister's behest, SPAT 2012 has grown into a popular movement.

The program aims at popularizing sports and channeling resources to high potential athletes. The vision is to harness community building, preventive healthware and counter-delinquency potential of sports.

5000 Scholarships are on offer in SPAT 2012 for aspiring athlete in 8-19 years age group for year 2012-13.

The Haryana Government has made a career in sports as assured as in higher education. It is keen to create adequate income and employment opportunities.

Mission Statement

Any Game. One Goal

- To build a popular sports culture in the state, particularly in schools,
- To ensure that everyone in 8-19 years has a SPAT score, an objective indicator of standard of fitness that parents and teachers can respond appropriately to,
- To increase playing population and thereby maintain supply-line of talented athletes for high-end tournaments,
- To campaign for more fund in school-level tournaments, more income and career opportunities in sports.
- To campaign for 'Right to Play' . It means giving young citizens as a matter of right access to optimum physical activity through sports. Idea is to help them grow into healthy adults and develop key personality differentiators like commitment, competitiveness and enterprise.

SPAT 2012
SPAT stands for Sports & Physical Aptitude Test. It a battery of seven tests that reliably measures one's athletic potential in terms of agility, flexibility endurance and strength. There are 7 tests - 800 meter run, 30 meter race, 6x10 shuttle run, medicine ball throw, forward bend and reach, vertical high jump and standing broad jump. Scoring is age and gender responsive.
